I recently hosted a guest blog post by the Ah-mazing Olivia at Simplylivblog “3 Ways to Simplify” after reading her own blog post about organizing your wardrobe. I was so inspired by her tips and tricks that I decided it was time I tackle my own mess. I am a serious disorganized closet hoarders and so I need all types of help. Including her game changing printable guide that walked me by the hand during this process!
I had one of those A-HA moments when I walked into my closet and realized I always make a sharp left inside because the other side is a horrible mess! I can be a bit sentimental about what I keep despite the 6 month toss it rule. Which is why I held on to so many items that were so outdated after so many years. I didn’t toss my wedding dress, ya’ll! I’m not heartless.
I didn’t finish this task overnight. I started by throwing everything on the floor, including hung items and I began sifting. This was the very overwhelming part. I honestly didn’t think Id be able to walk in there again. After 3 days of short working periods, I was able to make and separate piles into Donate & Maybe. Shortly after building massive piles, I was able to hang everything I absolutely loved and wanted to keep. I must admit I was even reunited with a couple of lost items that were tangled in the mess….Ha!
Final conclusion after organizing was the realization that everything I own and love is white, navy and chambray! Having everything sorted and neatly organized I was able to see what I need to add and subtract from my wardrobe! Yes, it’s chambray, I am a bit of an addict.
I didn’t take photos to share because I was legit embarrassed it was all so disastrous. However, I did rekindle my love affair with this classic tuxedo white shirt. One of the few items that beats the test of time and is perfect always. I paired it with this silver bib necklace from Pretty Particular and it remained classic with an edge. I love a great accessory that can take even the most basic staple to another level.
